Update

Autumn 2022

Dear friends,

After a long period of silence on my side, I now dare to say: it’s back on! I’m even going so far as to announce dates again… It was too risky for a long time to announce something that might be cancelled anyway. ALSO, the mood with me and in the theatre in general is full of zest for action.

A brief look back at 2022 so far:
The finale in Stuttgart was Calixto Bieito’s colourful, lively, amusing production of Jean-Phillipe Rameau’s ‘PLATÈE’, as ‘Amour’ and ‘La Folie’ – A joyful end to a difficult season – thankfully not prevented by a Covid infection in the immediate run-up.

I was also lucky enough to take on some nice tasks last season, without having to plan for a long time…

In autumn 2021, I was able to step in as Sophie in ‘ROSENKAVALIER’ (Richard Strauss) at the Volksoper Vienna, and as the Queen of the Night (‘DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE’) in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Then came the short-term takeover of the role of Zerbinetta in the Bielefeld production of ‘ARIADNE AUF NAXOS’ between the beginning of March and the end of May 2022. The role has always been very close to my heart and it was a pleasure to bring it back to life with wonderful colleagues in this beautiful production.

Then there was another ‘Zerbinetta’ stand-in, which was an enormous honour for me: ‘ARIADNE AUF NAXOS’ at the ‘MAGGIO MUSICALE FIORENTINO’ – under Daniele Gatti in June 2022. Standing on the stage of the TEATRO LA PERGOLA with this role of all roles was a dream come true.

So much for the past… Now we look forward to the near future:
The revival of ‘PLATÉE’; My debut in a Richard Wagner opera as Waldvöglein in ‘SIEGFRIED’; Sophie in ‘WERTHER’ (Jules Massenet); My recital in Stuttgart with the great pianist Virginie Déjos…

And in the new year a guest performance in Torino, Italy as the Queen of the Night (‘ZAUBERFLÖTE’) and back in Stuttgart as the Angel in ‘SAINT FRANCOIS D’ASSISE’ by Olivier Messiaen.

I hope to see you at one or the other!

Best regards
Beate Ritter
